The San Francisco 49ers have a new backup quarterback, signing veteran journeyman Joshua Dobbs on Monday. Dobbs and the Niners agreed to a one-year contract for $2.25 million with another $750,000 in playing-time incentives, NFL Network and ESPN reported. Dobbs is projected to be the No. 2 behind Brock Purdy after Sam Darnold left for the Minnesota Vikings in free agency. Dobbs, 29, is coming off a unique season that saw him traded twice and make more starts than he ever had in his NFL career.
