Jake Owen’s “American Country Love Song” is sonically safer than “Real Life,” but true to what the singer says he’s hoping to do with his fifth studio album, expected this year. It’s a blast of nostalgia that leans hard on a big, beer-in-the-air chorus.
Owen’s spoken-word verses recall scenes of blossoming love in any city or state, even though the finer details are Florida-specific. It’s a wonder that he didn’t write “American Country Love Song” (Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley, Jaren Johnston), as the story begins and ends in his home state of Florida.

Dylan is coming to Davenport’s Capitol Theatre. Jakob Dylan, that is.
The 54-year-old son of Bob Dylan leads The Wallflowers, which brings its tour to the Capitol (330 W. 3rd St., Davenport) on July 9, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.
“Though he is the son of a legend, Jakob’s similarities to his father are occasional — in fact, the Wallflowers are more influenced by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers than original ’60s folk-rock, though lyrically, Jakob remains a close companion to the original Dylan,” according to a concert event release.

Muscatine sets service changes for Veterans Day
The City of Muscatine announced changes to services in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
Most city departments will be closed for the holiday, and all offices will reopen on Monday, November 13. Changes to city services will include the following:

The program, formerly 100 Great Iowa Nurses, annually honors Iowa nurses for their contributions to the profession, according to a Tuesday release from Genesis. A committee of individuals from a variety of healthcare organizations across Iowa reviews nominations for the honor.
